In My Loving Memory (Album)

On November 15, 2011, I die...

How interesting is the circle of life.  Filled with ups and down, trials and tribulations, lows and highs, wins and ... well, losses.  Every step toward progression we take, we are inevitably taking another step closer to our grave.  The decisions we make each day, each minute, determine how our time here is spent and, ultimately, ends.

With that said, "In My Loving Memory" is the story of life.  A social commentary, if you will, about today's youth, music, and the outlook of the fast life.  The music here explores the life and times of a man whose frame of mind changes over time and is shaped both his good and bad decisions, ultimately leading to his demise.  The reasons and results, though, are more than he could have anticipated.

Why?

My goals with this project are beyond music.  Of course, an enjoyable listen with powerful lyrics is to be expected, but the ideas behind the music are most important here.  Without giving everything away, I hope the message conveyed can resonate with a broad audience and also shape some thinking in regard to the topic, and maybe even change a life.

This project was executive produced, written, and engineered by myself, with artistic contributions by a diverse set of composers, including Rock It Productions, All Rounda Productions, Heat Up Beats, Dar Productions, Anno Domini, Flawless Tracks, Mister K.A., & Life and Death Productions, as well as having verses from Killa Fam hip-hop artists Rah Scrilla and G-Lotto.

Singles

While the singles should provide a nice preview of what's to come, it's difficult to truly show what the entire work is about.  Not only are the songs quite diverse, while still maintaining a theme, but the entire collection is a story, and with the singles you're missing out on the experience as a whole.  Still, an enjoyable listen nonetheless...

Feelin' Good

Simple and plain, "Feelin' Good" is a feel-good track to smile to. There's a lot going on in life that can get you down; believe me, I've spent my share of time in that realm.  It's always nice to be able to take time out to really appreciate the things you do have, in a world where so much focus is placed on the things you don't.

Never See It Comin'

This track discussed the lessons learned from having too large a circle.  I keep my personal circle of friends small and am not afraid to walk alone.  I've learned over time that a large entourage can quickly turn to adversaries.

So Gone (f/ Anna)

So Gone discusses the pain of loss as dealt with from those closest to the one gone, those who not only had to take the loss, but who also had to watch the demise. An emotional track and an emotional video to match.
